It all started in the 4th grade, my Mom encouraged me to try playing an instrument,, so I started playing the Cello in the school orchestra. The first music instructor to have a big impression on me was in the 6th and 7th grade, Mrs. Trippy. She was a wonderful teacher as she took no crap and was very demanding. So, a big Thank You to Mom and Mrs. Trippy for getting me started on the right foot!
Coming Summer 2016 Mark Montague will release his autobiography "Let the Cat Out of the Bag" which chronicles the wild and very "Tall" tales as Bass Player/Co-Writer/Co-Producer and Partner with Hall of Fame Drummer Peter Criss of Kiss..."working" on his latest release "One For All"
My first electric bass, a 1972 Fender Precision, was unable to survive the statement: 'You love your bass more than you love me.' A casual yet sinister commentary directed at yours truly by my then first girlfriend. I was 16 years old and upon my unfortunate decision to concur with her assessment, she began to channel Jack Nicholson in The Shining. You know, 'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy' Right?... Got the picture? Haaaa, that day in my 1981 Hollywood apartment, that '72 "P" Bass was done in, finished, ended, butchered, by my scorned, soon to be X, axe wielding girlfriend. Yep, chop chop chippity chop choppa rooo.... and she was no more, no mas, nada, fanedo, finished. And that's what happened to my first electric bass.
