More About Cailidgh

I started out as a busker when I was about 18. I could play the chords A, D and E.. sometimes even in the right order..
I would spend a lot of time out there, and people do tend to look quite sad... I just wanted to brighten their day for a moment..

Ten years on, and I have played in Second Life (Cailidgh Spires), Real Life.. and I am even lucky enough to have an album bouncing about in cyberspace somewhere. It's called Spare Change because when I was on the streets I promised myself if I ever had an album, that's what I was going to call it.. and voila!

During the day I'm a full time mummy to two of the most amazing minions in the world (not that I'm biased, of course!). One is under 2, the other is 6 and autistic. Music is my piece of calm. The only time my brain isn't running a million miles a minute is when I'm singing.
It's my way of expressing so many things that I can't seem to put into words without a tune.

My goal is still simply to make people smile. Even if it's
Fun Stuff about the Artist

Life on the Street

I've had lots of memorable moments when busking.. both good and bad. I've been tipped in fruit (the vegetable shop didn't want me to leave in case the piccolo player took my spot).. I still have a random purple button which made it into my case in Norwich. I was quite proud of that one, i had sat out there for hours and came away with 80p and the button, it made me smile.

I've had people stop and join in, to the point there was 6 of us having a random jam on the floor in the street.

One of the most memorable, was one of the simplest. An old man had stopped and listened for a while and gone on his way.. come back and listened for a while and gone away... just wandering around, as you do. When I was packing up my guitar he approached me, encouraged me, took my hand and said "This is from an old busker to a young one", kissed it and walked away. He had given me a gold ring, which is still in my special cabinet with his words next to it.

Embarrassing Moment

It's hard to choose one, I come out with a lot of randomness when I play, someone made a notecard of a lot of them when I played in Second Life. That was a realllly long notecard.

I do tend to embarrass myself a lot, no doubt I will again soon, I tend to laugh at myself too though, so it's hard to think of moments.

My Instrument

I still have my first instrument, a piano I call The Gremlin because the wood looks like it has gremlin faces in. I also still have my first guitar, "Baby Bluebell", she's a Vintage acoustic, she was blue, but now looks more green.

The one I play though, is a Blue Moon acoustic, and a name hasn't grown on me for her yet, these things come with time.
